Unaccompanied YOUth Event - 2018 Homeless PIT Count

Unaccompanied YOUth Event - 2018 Homeless PIT Count

Feb 22, 5:00pm - Feb 22, 10:00pm

1315 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605-3607, United States

Let's Make YOUth Count!!!

The annual Homeless Unaccompanied YOUth* Point-In Time (PIT) Count Event will be held on the day of the Tampa-Hillsborough County Homeless PIT Count (Thursday, February 22, 2018):
METRO WELLNESS & COMMUNITY CENTERS
1315 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605 (Ybor City)
6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The VOLUNTEER shift for the YOUth Event will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The event will include: Pizza and other food, Music, Tattoo Raffle, Bike Raffle, and Haircuts/Styles.

Recognizing that it is difficult to locate homeless unaccompanied youth during the traditional street count and following the best practices established in other communities, the Tampa/Hillsborough County CoC will host an Unaccompanied YOUth Event aimed to bring homeless unaccompanied youth in to be counted and begin connections to services.

If you would like to VOLUNTEER for the Youth event, please select the YOUth Event when completing the on-line volunteer sign up form. Volunteers for the youth event will still need to complete the required homeless count volunteer training.

*(Unaccompanied Youth are defined as persons 16 to 24 years old that are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. This includes persons within the above age range that may have children under the age of 18).

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

The annual Homeless Count in Hillsborough County is coordinated by the Tampa/Hillsborough County Continuum of Care (CoC), led by the Tampa Homeless Initiative in conjunction with community partners. The data, collected through a short survey and observation during the Homeless Count, provides a Point-In-Time (PIT) ‘snapshot’ as to what the homeless population in our community looks like and what services are needed to assists them.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires Continuums of Cares (CoC) to conduct a point-in-time count of homeless persons every two years. The Tampa/Hillsborough County CoC will conduct their annual youth count to more closely track changes in the homeless or at-risk unaccompanied youth population and make every effort to connect youth living outdoors and in shelters to appropriate services and housing resources.

Living Room Live Open Mic hosted by Rebekah Pulley

Living Room Live Open Mic hosted by Rebekah Pulley

Feb 22, 6:00pm - Feb 22, 11:59pm

Hideaway Cafe
1756 Central Ave
Saint Petersburg, FL  33712 Map

We invite all singer/songwriters to join us for this Thursday's open mic night, a.k.a. Living Room Live. Named Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay 2014 and 2017 for "Best Open Mic Night", the Hideaway Cafe has opened up its doors and its stage for the past 8 years to countless rising talents as well as seasoned veterans who have made a career of music.

Consumate host John Kelly, a singer/songwriter himself, started this weekly tradition 8 years ago after building a stage as an extension of the recording studio. And the rest is history. The talent has been immense, the highlight reel endless... and the memories priceless. You won't find a more appreciative audience than you will here at St Petersburg's Original Listening Room!

Come down and check in with Rebekah and get on the list. The list is now built using a lottery system in an effort to keep the night open to newcomers and to keep every Thursday new and exciting. This also encourages artists to support and get to know one another. Countless collaborations and musical relationships have been built on chance encounters here at "Living Room Live". For signup - you have an option to choose one of two time frames. Basically EARLY (7pm-9pm) and LATE (9:15 - close). Your name is pulled out of a hat and you have 15 minutes to do your thing. You can drop your name in starting at 6pm. Then singer/songwriters take the stage to share 2-3 original songs and then "pass the mic" so to speak. The signup pool fills up fast so be sure to get here early and be sure you are here for your chosen time frame. Artists - if you'd like to get the recording studio "in the red" for your set, be sure to indicate that when you sign up (solos only). For as low as $35, you can have files of your performance dropbox'd to you or handed over on a special keepsake "hideaway" flash drive. Be sure to leave your email and phone number if you choose to record.

Invite your favorite music loving friends out for some incredible original music from some of St Pete's finest! As always Thursdays are free so come on out and get a taste of what St Pete's Original Listening Room is all about.

:::Open Mic Policies:::
We have a few guidelines we follow in order to keep our open mic "open" and running smoothly.

1. Performers should plan on arriving between 30-60 mins prior to performance time to check-in with the host or talent manager (the person with the list). If a performer does not check-in at that time, then their spot may be given to someone else who is present and wants to perform. Please let us know as soon as you know if you cannot make your scheduled performance time.

2. We want everyone that wants to perform to be able to perform, so if you want to perform and you're not on the list, then ask the talent manager if one of the scheduled performers has not yet checked-in and you will be assigned any available spot on the list.

3. In the case of an artist not being able to perform, then at 10:30pm that artists will be able to sign up for next week's open mic before the list is opened up to artists that are not present or to artists that performed that night. Priority to sign up for the next event is always given to those present at the previous event.

4. For those not present at the previous open mic, the list for the next week's open mic will be opened up at 12:01am the Monday prior to the next Sunday's open mic. Contact the talent manager, Chuck Terzian to sign up for a spot. Spots will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis. Specify what open time slot you would prefer and we will try to accommodate accordingly.

5. We can pencil-in a performer more than a week in advance but the spot is not confirmed at that time. For those that are penciled-in, their spots become confirmed if they are present at 10:30pm at the event one week prior to their scheduled performance. If a penciled-in performer is not present at that time, then the spot is opened up for someone who is present and wants to schedule a performance for the next week.

6. If the penciled-in performer is not present at 10:30pm and no one that is present wants the penciled-in performer’s spot, then the penciled-in spot is confirmed at midnight. Midnight is also the time that all the open spots on the list become available to anyone on a first-come first-serve basis.

7. We will not pencil in a performer for more than one spot in advance. This ensures that so no one can request to perform at a specific time for numerous events. For example... at 10:30pm for all of the open mic events in the next year.

8. The schedule can run 15+ minutes late. Please plan accordingly. We try to keep things moving along but set up and break down of acts can vary and create delays.

These are our current guidelines we try to follow but if you have special circumstances please don't hesitate to contact us and we will try to make some magic happen.

:::Featured Performance Opportunity::..

Shine Open Mic has a "Featured Artist" each week. We select artists that we've seen perform so come show us your magic! Featured Artists get longer performance times and will have the opportunity to have their name posted on our banners and promotions for the week. If interested, message Chuck Terzian via Facebook.

Explore the World of Art from Inside Artists’ Studios

2018 Historic Kenwood Spring Artists Studio tour
St. Petersburg, Florida

Whether you are a discerning art collector or a new art enthusiast, there’s something for everyone in this year’s Spring Artists Studio Tour, presented by the Artist Enclave of Historic Kenwood.
Historic Kenwood is nationally recognized for its charming early 1900s historic bungalows. Nestled among these architectural treasures is a unique and eclectic art colony, where skilled artisans and artists explore the joy of creation in their own home studios. In this city-designated artist enclave, you will find sculptors, painters, photographers, potters, jewelry makers and more, all creating stunning pieces of art.

On Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18, you are invited into these studios to see more than 20 artists in their studios at work or displaying unique artwork work … and possibly find a must-have one-of-a-kind piece of art that can be your own. Artists will personally explain the process of creating their art, as well as displaying finished pieces. Studios will be open on Saturday, from (10 AM-5 PM), and Sunday (Noon-5 PM), and is free and open to the public.

Among the artists at work will be jewelry makers who transform unique accessories from found objects, interesting stones and even spin nature’s wonders such as twigs and leaves into gilded wearable art. And here is your chance to see and learn about screen printing and digital art, to learn how a linocut is created, to explore how a fine art painter is inspired, to witness artistic pottery and amazing sculptures in their creation, and to discover forms of art you never imagined.
A detailed map will be provided for those who want to walk, bike, or ride through the studio tour and can also be found and printed in advance at kenwoodartistenclave.org/

Dining Out For Life Tampa Bay

Dining Out For Life Tampa Bay

Apr 26, 12:00am - Apr 26, 11:59pm

Tampa Bay, Florida

Dining Out For Life® is an international event encompassing 60 cities’ restaurants that donate a portion of their proceeds in support of the fight against HIV/AIDS. For 13 years Tampa Bay area restaurants have joined together in support of EPIC (Empath Partners In Care) so they can continue to be a force of change in the fight against HIV.

On Thursday, April 26, 2017 an estimated 1,000 people will dine out to fight HIV/AIDS all across Tampa Bay, where restaurants participate in Dining Out For Life by donating a generous percentage of proceeds from the day’s meals to EPIC (Empath Partners in Care)

Dining Out For Life is the first dine-out fundraiser of its kind and has raised millions for HIV/AIDS service organizations across North America. In 2016, more than $35,000 was raised to fight HIV/AIDS in Tampa Bay.

So how does it work? Thousands of people from all over the Tampa Bay area will choose their favorite participating restaurant and dine out for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner, knowing that a percentage of their bill will be donated by the restaurant to benefit EPIC and the fight against HIV/AIDS.

To view a full list of participating restaurants, please visit DineTB.org. We will be adding restaurants up until 24 hours before the event - please check back often.
