January's Meet and Greet
Located just west of Downtown St. Petersburg, the Grand Central District is one of over
40 Florida Main Street Communities. It is home to several beloved and diverse restaurants, antique retailers, art galleries, pubs, and eclectic shops.
The Grand Central District is pedestrian friendly, with plenty of on-street parking,
and can be easily reached via the Central Avenue Trolley, which makes several stops throughout the District.
The Grand Central District is comprised
of the 1600-3100 blocks of Central Avenue,
as well as First Avenues North and South.

Walmart Opens in the Grand Central District
On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, the Grand Central Business District welcomed a mainstream retailer to its services mix, a 107,000 SF Neighborhood Walmart Center.
The grand opening festivities were met with great fanfare with well over 100 in attendance, including: Florida House District 55 Representative Darryl Rouson; St. Petersburg City Council Members Jeff Danner, Wengay Newton, Herb Polson, and Bill Dudley; city staff representatives; Walmart district and regional managers; and many of the 300 new employees of Walmart, located at 201 34th Street North in St. Petersburg.
