For the 5th year in a row, restaurants of the Grand Central District will be participating in the ‘Battle of the Burg(er),’ a month-long contest to determine who serves the best burger. We are happy to announce this year there will be a separate category for Vegetarian Burgers. During the month of September, consumers will be invited to dine at 11 participating restaurants to taste the entries and then vote online for their favorite.

Mexican Torta Sandwich – Black beans, guacamole, pickled jalapeños, cilantro, your choice of meat or veggies, on a locally made Telera bread bun. Served w chips and salsa

The Versailles – Arugula, Montrechet Chevre, House Made Country Pate, Boudin Noir, Duxelles and Fig Mustard on a croissant bun

The Memphis Burger – Ground beef, provolone, grilled onion, pickle, brown mustard sauce, smoked pork, sautéed in a chocolate bourbon pineapple sauce

The Punky Burger – Not for the faint of heart! Heaps of our signature pulled pork, fried onion petals, and cheddar cheese smother this burger cooked to your liking, with Punky sauce. Served with your choice of side. $10, Every Monday in September $8.as a part of our Monday Burger Specials.

The Bella Burger – Our breaded portabella burger is topped with Swiss cheese, caramelized red onions, and our made-from-scratch vegan bacon! Served with fresh spinach, tomatoes, and Mandy’s Avocado Spread on a soft pretzel bun!

Craftsman House Gallery – 2955 Central Ave
The Bungalow Burger – A veggie burger of flavorable garbanzo beans, quinoa, zucchini, pumpkin, corn, onions, and spices, laying on a bed of spinach. Top with avocado and tomatoes, with a curry tzatziki sauce. All served on a croissant.

Leafy Greens – 1626 Central Avenue
Leafy Greens Burger – Portabella mushrooms, red onion, sunflower seeds, organic wheat-free tamari and organic tarragon on a “romaine leaf bun” served with English cucumber, sweet baby pepper and chipotle sauce for pickles. Dress the burger with shredded red and green cabbage, guacamole, red onion, fresh clover sprouts, raw mustard and sundried tomato catsup for a truly unique, all-fresh, all-living and knock-your-socks-off delicious and healthy vegan, Non-GMO burger!

Love Food Central– 2057 Central Ave
The Love Burger: this homemade beet and black bean burger is served with arugula, cucumber and sauerkraut on toasted sourdough. We love it with avocado and baby Bella mushrooms. Vegan and gluten-free of course.
